No heat in a 2000 Ford Taurus. Possibly the control door in the heater/air conditioning box?

My friends have a 2000 Ford Taurus. They have not had heat for a while now. They have changed the thermostat, flushed the heater core and they know that everything is going through the heater core properly. I have the suspicion that the temperature control door inside the heater/air-conditioning box is stuck to the A/C setting. Does anyone know how to manually adjust this to make it be on the heat setting? No heat in a 2000 Ford Taurus. Possibly the control door in the heater/air conditioning box?I'm not sure where it's located on your car but I know you will have to go in and prop it open or closed with something, preferably something like a gum consistency. When you do that though they will only be able to have heat. Then in the summer you can switch it and it will only have air. But will work until you save up for it, its about $700 to fix. Fords, I think, are notorious for this problemNo heat in a 2000 Ford Taurus. Possibly the control door in the heater/air conditioning box?Your thinking is right, they have a tsb out for a blend door sticking and it's an not an easy job, sometimes you can sneak your hand up there and move it by hand, the prob is the door warps and sticks in the passage to hard for the arm to move it. Usually not to hard for a hand though... Good luckNo heat in a 2000 Ford Taurus. Possibly the control door in the heater/air conditioning box?Open the glove box and squeeze the sides inward and remove.then you can get to the blend door.

Check this those blend/diverter doors malfunction a lot.

Heater core on a 1999 durango?

I have a 1999 dodge durango and smell antifreeze when the heater is on, but Im not loosing any antifreeze in the overflow tank or the radiator. And if it is the heater core, how hard is it to change. I know some cars you have to take out the dash. anyone here changed one?Heater core on a 1999 durango?I work for a Chrysler dealer in service. It sounds like a heater core. If you can smell it and don't see any leaks on the ground, it more than likely is the core. If it starts to leak on the pass side floor inside the vehicle or you get a mist out of the vents when the heater is on, then that is the tell tale sign that the heater core is shot. Yes, you do have to pull the dash to change it. It's about a 4-5 hour process for our techs.Heater core on a 1999 durango?Just get obama to get you a new truck on the tax payers.Heater core on a 1999 durango?IT TAKES 5 HOURS TO DO IT WHICH INVOLVE REMOVING THE DASHBOARD. ANY TIME YOU SMELL ANTIFREEZE WHICH IS BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH, THE HEATER CORE IS LEAKING COOLANT. THE REASON WHY YOU NOT LOOSING COOLANT IS IT IS LEAKING VERY SMALL ENOUGH TO SMELL IT.Heater core on a 1999 durango? If your heater core is leaking, you'll have coolant leaking inside your car and eventually lose coolant. Are you sure it is antifreeze you smell or more like mildew or musky smell which indicates build up in your heater core. I'm not familair with your vehicle but in some, you can get to it from the firewall inside the engine housing.

How much does it cost to replace a heater core?

I have a 1995 Ford Contour GL, 2.0 that I believe needs a heater core. I don't have time right now to replace it, so I am wondering about how much it would cost for parts and labor for the replacement. The dash does not need to be taken out, however the center console and shifter assembly does (without tearing apart wires and effing the overdrive). Other than that it's just a matter of removing some things and changing it out. Thanks in advance for your responses! How much does it cost to replace a heater core?I don't know the specific time for it but if that's all your saying needs to be taken out then maybe 2 or 3 hours labor and then parts cost so possibly $200-400 in that range. How do you know it's leaking? Coolant on the floor? If you don't have the money it can be bypassed since you won't be using it much in the warmer season.

How to Bypass 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Heater Core?

The heater core is leaking on the passenger side of the cabin. How hard is it to do a bypass? How is is it done? Step-by step method. I am a change oil and filter guy and not a mechanic.

The radiator shop wants $500 to replace the heater core. I would like to keep the Jeep for pulling a pop-up camper. How to Bypass 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Heater Core?Well, 500 bucks to change the heater core is not too bad, considering the entire dashboard has to be removed to get to it.

Anyhow, it's real simple to bypass the heater. You can't block the flow - it has to always be circulating. Just cut the 2 hoses entering and exiting the firewall with a utility knife and connect them together with a coupler and clamps.

Before you bypass the heater, check that the problem isn't with one of those connections at the firewall. I had leaking antifreeze coming into the passenger side and the shop told me the core was bad and wanted 700-800 to replace it. I decided to do it myself. Bought a core for 79.00. Then started taking things apart. I noticed that one of the hose clamps was loose and was squirting water into the core when the engine ran. Put a new clamp on it and no more leak!
